Cornish Adventure Kayak Hire | Port Quin

At Cornish Adventure, we’re thrilled to offer our “Click and Collect” kayak hire service, allowing you to embark on your own Cornish adventure at beautiful Port Quin. With our convenient service, you can rent a kayak from us and take it to Port Quin, where you’ll have the freedom to explore the stunning natural harbour at your own pace.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Online Booking: Visit our website at www.cornishadventure.com and click the yellow book online button and navigate to our kayak hire section. Choose the date and duration for your kayak rental, ensuring it aligns with your plans for visiting Port Quin.
  2. Selecting the Kayak: We use sit on top kayaks from Feel Free, they are an excellent all round and easy to use kayak and are kitted out with comfort seats and touring paddles. Whether you prefer a single kayak for solo adventures or a tandem kayak to share the experience with a friend, we have options available to accommodate your needs. We also hire wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets to keep you safe and warm during your adventure.
  3. Secure Your Booking: Complete the online booking process by providing the required information, including your contact details and payment details. Review your booking summary and proceed to secure your reservation.
  4. Confirmation and Collection Details: Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with all the necessary information regarding collection and your proof of hire.

5. Collecting Your Kayak: On the day of your booking, arrive at base on Dinham farm at the specified time. Our friendly staff will be there to assist you. You will need a vehicle with roof racks or we can provide soft roof racks that are suitable for most cars (apart from convertibles!) They will also provide you with a safety briefing and tips for a successful kayaking adventure. If Port Quin isn’t looking like the best option based on the current conditions, then we can suggest other places to explore.

6. Journey to Port Quin: After collecting your kayak, head down to the charming village of Port Quin, located on Cornwall’s picturesque north coast. The roads leading to Port Quin are single track and steep with a small so getting there early or late in the day is a good idea. High tide is the easiest time to launch a kayak so this is worth bearing in mind. There is a small launch fee to pay if you use the main slipway as well as a honesty box in the car park run by the National Trust.

7. Kayaking at Port Quin: Once you arrive at Port Quin, launch your kayak into the stunning cove and embark on your own Cornish adventure. One big advantage of kayaking at Port Quin is that it is very sheltered, being tucked away from all but a northerly wind. Explore caves and take in the breathtaking views of the rugged cliffs and coastline. Keep an eye out for wildlife, such as seals and seabirds, that often grace these waters.

8. Return and Drop-off: At the end of your hire period, return the kayak and any accompanying equipment to our base. Our staff will be there to receive the equipment and ensure its safe return.

As you’ll be embarking on your own adventure at Port Quin, it’s essential to prioritise safety by taking reasonable precautions such as wearing lifejackets and helmets (which can be added to your hire booking), and carrying a form of communications. You should only kayak within your experience levels. Please respect the local environment and take any rubbish home. Also be aware that there are no public toilets at Port Quin, although we do have one at our base for our customers to use.
